FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How can I find a Dexter cattle breeder in our area?
To find a Breeder of Dexter Cattle in your area please use our Member Directory or contact the Regional Director in your area.

How much space do I need to raise Dexter Cattle?
A half acre of good green grass per animal, or 12 to 15 pounds of hay and a little grain each day is enough in temperate climates.

How can I  become a member of the PDCA?

Does the PDCA offer a Youth Membership?
Youth memberships are available for $5.00 a year.  Please see Membership Information page for more information.

I purchased a bred cow.  Under what name do I register the calf when born?
The PDCA's policy states that the animal’s registration name must carry a prefix reflecting the herd name of the breeder (the farm owning the cow at the time of breeding).

What do I do with the registration certificate when a cow dies?
Put the date of death on the original certificate and return it to the PDCA registrar.

What are the approved tattoo letters used each year?
If you don't have them they're listed on page 5 in the Fall issue of the Record which you can copy them from.

May I use the PDCA logo on my business cards, signs, website, etc?
The PDCA logo is copyrighted.  To use the PDCA logo on your website or other form of advertising, we request the following guidelines be followed:

1.  You must be a member of the PDCA to use the logo.

2.  Please put “Member” or “Member Of”, in conjunction with the logo.  Example: 

"MEMBER OF”

3.  If you are using the logo on a website, a link to the PDCA website
(http://www.purebreddextercattle.org/) would be greatly appreciated. 
 
4.  We ask that you treat our logo in the appropriate manner that indicates you are proud to be a member.
 
5.  If in doubt about the use of the logo, please ask a Board Member for guidance.
